Apply surgical assessment expertise as a Registered Practical Nurse supporting immediate pre-operative and post-operative patient care. Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre seeks an experienced RPN with current surgical experience.

This Registered Practical Nurse prepares patients for various surgeries and supports recovery afterward. The work requires physical and psychological assessment, patient instruction, discharge experience, and solid organization. The RPN works closely with the RN and other care providers while supporting Person-Centred Care and Sunnybrook’s Mission, Vision, and Values.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assess patients physically and psychologically before surgery
- Prepare and instruct patients undergoing various surgeries
- Support mobilization, transfers, and ambulation




- Provide recovery and pain management health teaching
- Complete immediate post-operative assessment and discharge support

Requirements:

- Current Ontario College of Nurses registration
- Mandatory RPN diploma and current BCLS certification
- One to two years recent surgical experience
- Venipuncture IV certification and phlebotomy skills
- Physical Assessment and Medication Administration courses completed
