Support protected museum operations with HVAC, plumbing, and preventive maintenance expertise at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto.

ROM seeks a dependable Maintenance Mechanic 1 for full-time permanent work across mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building systems. Reporting to the Manager, Maintenance & Facility Operations, you will inspect facilities, complete corrective work, and protect sensitive collections through environmental monitoring. The schedule includes overnight, weekend, and statutory-holiday hours. You will also support after-hours programming and coordinate with Security and maintenance teams.

Key Responsibilities:

- Inspect mechanical rooms, galleries, plants, and public spaces
- Complete preventive and corrective maintenance work orders
- Monitor gallery and storage environmental conditions




- Provide technical support for overnight events and film shoots
- Coordinate continuous operations with maintenance teams

Requirements:

- Three to five years of skilled maintenance experience
- Knowledge of BAS, controls, and troubleshooting techniques
- Ability to diagnose problems independently under pressure
- Strong communication, organization, and record-keeping skills
- Experience protecting sensitive assets considered an advantage
