Build substation operations experience with AltaLink as a Summer Student in Calgary, supporting equipment inspection, maintenance, and field operations.

This four-month student term starts May 2027 with AltaLink’s Transmission Field Operations team. Reporting to the Manager, Substations South, you will support a multidisciplinary team operating and maintaining transmission substations across Alberta. The position includes equipment from 4160V to 500KV, maintenance planning, trouble response, and capital upgrade work.

Key Responsibilities:

- Operate, inspect, and maintain transmission substation equipment
- Provide equipment status information to planners and control staff
- Support troubleshooting and emergency response for area stations
- Assist capital upgrades, replacements,



and new SVC and PST technologies
- Develop safe work plans and follow approved procedures

Requirements:

- Return to full time studies in a recognized technologist diploma program
- Preferably enrolled in Electrical Engineering Technology
- Hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Work safely in adverse weather and at heights
- Demonstrate mechanical, electrical, analytical, and communication skills
