Review building plans and permits for the City of Waterloo at Waterloo City Centre, using Ontario Building Code knowledge and inspection expertise.

This temporary full time Municipal Building Official reports to the Manager, Plans Examination. The work includes assessing permit applications, reviewing construction plans, answering code inquiries, and inspecting Part 9 residential houses and accessory structures. You will support permit administration through AMANDA, building code research, and communication with applicants, builders, design professionals, and the public.

Key Responsibilities:
Assess building permit applications for completeness and acceptability
Calculate applicable permit fees and due dates
Review plans for code, bylaw, and zoning compliance




Resolve code deficiencies with applicants and design specialists
Schedule inspections and record results in AMANDA

Requirements:
Construction Engineering or Architectural Technology diploma
At least two years of related municipal experience
Experience reviewing and inspecting Part 9 residential construction
Building Code Act qualifications in House and Legal General categories
Valid MTO G licence and acceptable driving abstract
