About the Role

Our client, a significant player in resource exploration, is seeking a diligent and organized Geological Technician to support their geological team in Kimberley, Northern Cape . This role is essential for providing hands-on technical assistance in the field and laboratory. Responsibilities include sample collection, preparation, preliminary analysis, and data entry, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of geological information. The successful candidate will work closely with geologists and geoscientists, contributing to the fundamental data gathering that underpins exploration and resource evaluation activities. Key Responsibilities

- Collect geological samples (rock, core, cuttings) from field sites and drill sites.
- Prepare samples for analysis, including crushing, grinding, and logging.
- Perform basic laboratory tests and analyses under the supervision of geologists.
- Assist with the operation and maintenance of geological equipment and instruments.
- Maintain accurate records of sample locations, descriptions, and analytical results.
- Enter geological data into databases and assist with data quality control.
- Prepare geological maps, cross-sections, and other visual aids.




- Assist in maintaining geological sample storage and organization.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental procedures.

Requirements

- Diploma or Certificate in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related technical field.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a geological support role, ideally in field or laboratory settings.
- Familiarity with geological sampling techniques and basic laboratory procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Basic understanding of geological terminology and concepts.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data recording.
- Good manual dexterity and ability to perform physically demanding tasks as required.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience working in the Northern Cape region or similar environments is an advantage.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures.
