We are Parallel 49 Brewing Company, a craft brewery based in the heart of East Vancouver. We were founded in 2012 by passionate craft beer enthusiasts and have quickly become a staple in the Canadian craft beer scene. As part of the Quality Assurance (QA) department, the laboratory assistant’s primary responsibility is to support the QA Technician and QA Manager in ensuring that all products conform to the highest quality and consistency standards. The quality assurance department conducts chemical and biological tests including, but not limited to: pH and Plato monitoring, alcohol measurement, total acidity, color, bitterness, dissolved oxygen, cell counting, microbiological identification, aseptic isolation of bacteria and yeast, yeast propagation, and PCR for spoilage organisms. The laboratory assistant will support the department by obtaining and preparing samples, and performing various quality testing methods on beers and RTDs. Quality control of Beer and RTDs Quality control sampling and measurement (measurement of plato, density, and pH)
