Support laboratory services across Courtenay and Cumberland as a Medical Laboratory Assistant performing specimen collection and ECG testing. Regular part time work includes multiple sites.

Island Health seeks a Medical Laboratory Assistant for Laboratory Medicine, Pathology and Medical Genetics. Reporting to a Team Leader, Chief Technologist, or designate, you will perform laboratory procedures and clerical duties. The work supports consistently high quality laboratory services across assigned facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

- Collect blood and other patient specimens
- Prepare samples for laboratory analysis
- Distribute and store specimens appropriately
- Perform urinalysis using colour-coded dipsticks
- Perform Electro Cardiogram testing where required

Requirements:

- Grade 12 education
- Recognized Laboratory Assistant training program completion
- One year of recent related experience or equivalent
- Valid BC Class 5 Vehicle Licence
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
