Settlement Workers in Schools assist immigrant and refugee students, families, and eligible clients with immediate settlement needs and ongoing integration. This position supports education-system orientation, needs assessment, referrals, mental health and well-being, language proficiency, cultural adjustment, and pathways to post-secondary education. The role reports to the Manager, Surrey Schools Welcome Centre.
Key Responsibilities: Assess settlement needs, create action plans, and provide referrals
Support school registration, enrollment, and education-system orientation
Provide interpretation, translation, and short-term emotional counselling




Coordinate culturally appropriate programming, workshops, and outreach
Maintain confidential records and collaborate with school teams
Requirements: Fluent written and spoken English and Rohingya
Grade 12 plus two years post-secondary education or equivalent
Two years’ experience supporting diverse populations and newcomers
Knowledge of migration, settlement, adjustment, and youth issues
Valid British Columbia driver’s licence and versatile availability
