Support residents through counselling, harm reduction, and emergency response as a Casual Housing / Shelter Support Worker with Our Place Society.
Reporting to the Site Supervisor and Team Lead, you will identify client needs and risks while supporting housing and shelter programs. The work includes intake, wellness checks, intervention planning, life skills support, referrals, and maintaining a safe workplace for marginalized residents.
Key Responsibilities: Develop resident support plans with the program team
Conduct wellness checks and basic counselling sessions
Distribute meals, hygiene supplies, and harm reduction supplies
Respond to overdoses and provide emergency first aid
Maintain files, incident reports, and program statistics
Requirements: Related human or social service diploma
One year of recent related experience
Knowledge of harm reduction and crisis intervention
Basic Microsoft Office and computer skills
Ability to lift thirty pounds and navigate stairs
Bring empathy, de-escalation, counselling, and emergency response skills to resident support at Our Place Society.
