Senior Data Governance Implementation Consultant

- 19608 About the Opportunity Our established Canadian client is seeking a Senior Data Governance Implementation Consultant to help strengthen how data is understood, owned and managed across the enterprise. The organization has completed foundational work and is ready to put a practical governance model into day-to-day use across business, project and technology teams. This role sits between strategy and execution. The successful consultant will work with stakeholders to clarify accountabilities, improve the quality and consistency of enterprise data practices, support catalogue adoption and build tools that teams can use after the engagement is complete. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Review existing governance and stewardship practices and help turn foundational work into an achievable implementation approach
- Clarify data ownership, stewardship responsibilities, decision-making and issue-escalation processes across business and technology teams
- Create practical guidance, workflows, templates and playbooks that make governance easier to apply consistently
- Work with project teams to introduce appropriate data, metadata and quality considerations into project intake, delivery and handoff activities
- Guide priority business areas through catalogue onboarding, including business terminology, ownership, classification, intended use and critical-data documentation
- Facilitate discussions that turn data-quality concerns into measurable expectations, assigned ownership and workable resolution processes
- Help establish a team-oriented network for data stewards through onboarding, learning resources,



communications and a sustainable operating cadence About You The successful candidate will have the following:
- 6+ years of experience in data governance, stewardship, metadata management or information governance
- Proven experience moving governance programs from design into operation, including roles, decision rights, workflows and issue management
- Strong knowledge of data catalogues, business glossaries, metadata, critical data elements and data-quality controls
- Experience creating practical playbooks and embedding governance into project delivery, stage gates and change initiatives
- Strong facilitation and communication skills. Purview, Collibra, Alation, DAMA, DCAM, Communities of Practice and change management are assets
- Ability to work onsite in Ottawa is huge asset, however remote candidates will be considered About the Job
- Start date: January, 2027
- Pay rates: $70.00 to $90.00/hr + depending on experience
