As a Mental Health and Addiction Services Nurse, you work in the community as part of a multidisciplinary care team. Your practice includes intake, nursing assessments, interventions, consultation, and treatment for clients and their caregivers or families. Island Health seeks a practicing RN or RPN registrant with related post-basic education, two years of recent experience, and understanding of relevant legislation, programs, and community care.
Key Responsibilities: Complete intake and nursing assessments for clients
Assess mental health and alcohol or drug use concerns




Provide treatment and intervention strategies
Consult with caregivers and families
Coordinate referrals to available community programs
Requirements: Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives
Post-basic education related to psychiatric nursing or mental illness
Two years of recent related experience
Knowledge of the Mental Health and Guardianship Acts
Valid BC Driver's License
Use addiction assessment, intervention, and referral skills to provide community-based nursing care through Island Health services.
