Support structural testing and specimen preparation as a Laboratory Assistant at UBC Vancouver Campus in Vancouver, BC. This is a full-time role.
Within the Civil Engineering Workshop, you will assist graduate students and research assistants with laboratory activities. The position focuses on novel structural systems, straightforward tests, accurate data recording, and organized equipment care. Reporting to the Head Engineering Technician, you will receive training for specific laboratory tasks.
Key Responsibilities: Assist with testing novel structural systems
Prepare specimens for laboratory research activities
Help graduate students perform simple tests
Record and enter testing data accurately
Clean laboratories and store equipment properly
Requirements: High school graduation or equivalent education and experience
Workshop testing experience preferred
Ability to gather, record, and organize information
Effective MS Word and MS Excel use
Effective verbal and written communication
Apply structural testing, specimen preparation, data organization, and equipment care skills within UBC Civil Engineering research.
