Support specimen collection and laboratory services in Fredericton as a Medical Laboratory Assistant with Horizon Health Network. Permanent full time work includes rotating shifts.
This Medical Laboratory Assistant supports pre- and post-analytical tasks and routine technical procedures. Responsibilities include specimen preparation, patient registration, order entry, and information services. The position rotates between Specimen Collection at DECRH and Fredericton Northside.
Key Responsibilities: Collect, receive, and prepare patient specimens
Register patients and enter laboratory orders
Provide information to patients during registration
Perform maintenance, decontamination, sterilization, and cleaning
Provide reception, messaging, and mail services
Requirements: Graduate of a Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent
Successfully challenge the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science exam
Attend work regularly as required
Perform the duties of the position
Communicate effectively in English
Bring specimen processing, patient communication, and laboratory support skills to Horizon’s Fredericton-area Medical Laboratory Assistant team.
