Job Summary: The Residence Worker provides care for the individuals in the group home and participates as part of the team responsible for implementing all aspects of the residents’ program, including the organization’s policies, procedures and philosophy. On both an individual and group basis, the Residence Worker supports the quality of life for residents by ensuring that their physical, social, educational and health needs are met.
Education, Training and Experience
Community Support Worker Certificate or equivalent
Three month’s experience delivering similar services
Experience in supporting individuals with disabilities in a group home setting
Valid First Aid and CPR certification
Food Protected Certificate
Class 5 driver’s license (Class 4 preferred) and own vehicle
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of theory, values and practices in community living including support systems
Demonstrated ability to advocate, provide personalized support and teach life skills to residents
Ability to work alone and unsupervised, as well as part of a team
Ability to perform lifts and transfers of clients
Effective interpersonal communication skills




Basic computer skills preferably experience with Microsoft Office

To advocate for support and change within the systems that affect residents and their families

$500 hiring incentive
Please Note:
The successful candidate will begin employment at the Ryall Residence: Thursday and Friday : 4pm – 11pm, Saturday and Sunday: 1:30pm – 9:30pm
This position is open to all qualified individuals and requires Union membership

May be required to use personal vehicle
This position is subject to temporary funding and will be cancelled within two weeks’ notice

Successful applicant must acquire Class 4 drivers’ license in order to pass the three-month trial period
