Emergency mental health nurses assess suicide risk, plan care, and intervene during crises at Health Sciences Centre’s adult psychiatric services.
As a Psychiatric Liaison Nurse with Shared Health, you will work within the Emergency team and Mental Health Reassessment and Observation Unit. The position delivers mental health expertise across the Emergency Department, observation unit, and facility. You will support patients and families, provide consultation, and collaborate with healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities: Provide psychiatric assessment within a biopsychosocial framework
Assess suicide risk and evaluate patient responses
Deliver crisis intervention and therapeutic communication
Support care planning for patients experiencing psychiatric crises




Teach clients, families, and colleagues about mental healthcare
Requirements: Three years recent acute mental health experience required
Emergency Department experience preferred
Graduate of approved School of Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing
Registration with CRNM or CRPNM required
Knowledge of co-occurring disorders and community resources
Bring emergency psychiatric assessment, therapeutic communication, and mental healthcare teaching skills to this Winnipeg clinical nursing position.
