About Our Client

Unionville Home Society (UHS) is a not-for-profit charitable organization in Unionville that has been serving seniors since 1967. Through its long-term care home, seniors' housing, seniors' active living centre, adult day program, and geriatric outreach services, UHS offers a continuum of services designed to enhance the experience of aging. Its work is guided by five pillars: connecting communities, advancing quality and innovation, caring genuinely and passionately, respecting each person, and serving with integrity and commitment.

Position Overview

UHS is seeking an IPAC Advisor to manage, coordinate, and provide guidance on the Infection Prevention and Control program at Union Villa. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Care, this role works with clinical leadership, departmental managers, and the multidisciplinary team to strengthen infection control practices, monitor compliance, coordinate education, and guide outbreak management. The successful candidate will play a key role in translating surveillance data, audits, and public health requirements into practical improvements that support resident outcomes and secure care delivery.

Why This Role Stands Out

- Make Education a Practical Strength: Develop and implement an annual IPAC education plan, delivering training through staff orientation, refresher sessions, on-the-spot huddles, and education for residents, visitors, and volunteers.
- Influence Infection Control Across the Residence: Work directly with clinical leaders and departmental managers to strengthen compliance, improve practices, and embed infection prevention into day-to-day operations.
- Lead the Response When It Matters Most:

Convene and support the Outbreak Management Team, coordinate outbreak-related activities, and help guide infection control measures during critical situations.
- Turn Surveillance Into Prevention: Analyse infection trends, audit findings, and inspection results to identify risks and recommend evidence-based improvements to clinical practice.
- Connect Clinical Practice With Public Health Requirements: Liaise with Public Health officials and physicians, participate in inspections, and support timely reporting of communicable diseases and outbreaks to the appropriate authorities.

Qualifications

- Education & Certification: Post-secondary education in health or a related field, completion of an IPAC Canada-endorsed course, and certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) through the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC).
- Relevant Experience: Experience and education in infectious diseases, cleaning and disinfection, data collection and trend analysis, reporting protocols, outbreak management, asepsis, microbiology, adult education, epidemiology, and program management.
- Long-Term Care Experience: Six months to 1 year of experience in a long-term care setting is preferred.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge of applicable infection prevention and control legislation, including Public Health and Ministry of Long-Term Care standards.

Compensation

- The IPAC Advisor position offers an hourly rate of $30.00-40.00, based on education and skills.
- This is a full-time, permanent, non-union position with a regular schedule of 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., with some evening and weekend work required based on operational needs.

**Vacancy Status: This posting is for an existing vacancy.
