This senior field operator works within Public Works – Utilities and reports to the Manager of Roads & Utilities. The position operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs wastewater and stormwater infrastructure. It also provides functional supervision, develops team members, resolves complex operational issues, and may act as Chief Operator during the Supervisor of Utilities’ absence.
Key Responsibilities: Operate and maintain wastewater collection and stormwater systems
Troubleshoot and repair utility infrastructure and complex operational issues
Functionally direct, supervise, and contribute to team work




Support team member development and continuous operational improvement
Maintain infrastructure safely, reliably, and cost-effectively
Requirements: Minimum three years directly related experience
One year functional supervision in a related operational setting
EOCP Wastewater Collection Level II certification
Valid BC Class 5 licence with air brake endorsement
Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, and TCP certifications
Bring wastewater systems knowledge, sound judgment, and functional leadership to Utility Operator II services for the City of Colwood.
