This Laboratory Technologist I position performs established core laboratory procedures within Island Health’s Department of Laboratory Medicine, Pathology and Medical Genetics. The regular full time schedule includes shifts from 06:30-14:30 through 23:00-07:00. Success requires current testing knowledge, independent prioritization, and effective interdisciplinary collaboration.
Key Responsibilities: Perform established core laboratory procedures
Apply hematology testing techniques and methods
Perform chemistry laboratory testing
Complete transfusion medicine procedures




Prioritize and complete assigned laboratory work
Requirements: Recognized Medical Laboratory Technology diploma graduation
Relevant CAMLPR pathway registration or CSMLS certification
Recent core laboratory courses or qualifying related experience
Critical thinking, conflict resolution, and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Bring recognized laboratory training, current testing knowledge, and sound judgment to hematology, chemistry, and transfusion medicine services.
