Join an established Surgery team. Help shape what comes next.
Coastal Care Veterinary Emergency & Referral Hospital is seeking a second Board-Certified Small Animal Surgeon to join our growing team in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Full-time and part-time schedules are available.
We are particularly interested in a Surgeon with an orthopedic focus or a combination of orthopedic and soft-tissue interests. Experience in surgical oncology or minimally invasive surgery would also be welcomed. Beyond the operating room, this is an opportunity to help develop our orthopedic service and influence the future of a growing specialty hospital.
For someone interested in a broader role, we would also welcome a conversation about a potential Medical Director position in the hospital.
Surgery at Coastal Care
Our surgeons care for planned referral cases and patients presenting through our 24-hour emergency service. You would join an existing surgical service and work alongside clinicians in Internal Medicine, Anesthesiology, Emergency and Critical Care, Ophthalmology, Neurology, Radiology, Dermatology, and Exotics.
Coastal Care is a Canadian-owned, purpose-built emergency and specialty hospital serving patients from across Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada. Our 20,000+ square foot facility includes three operating suites, a dedicated ICU, on-site CT, C-arm, MRI, and a Canadian Animal Blood Bank location. We also have a learning centre developed in collaboration with the Atlantic Veterinary College.
We are looking for a surgeon who enjoys working with colleagues across disciplines, communicates clearly with clients and referring veterinarians, and wants to contribute to the growth of the Surgery service.

We offer competitive compensation, eligibility for a performance bonus, and a comprehensive health benefits package, including:
Medical, dental, and vision coverage, with premiums paid by the clinic
Coverage for professional services and enhanced mental health practitioner perks
A health and lifestyle spending account and employee assistance program

Generous continuing education support and one week of paid CE leave

Relocation assistance and immigration support, where applicable
Life in Halifax
