Petrospec Engineering is currently seeking an experienced Picker Operator to support field coiled tubing operations. This role is ideal for an energetic, detail-oriented professional who works well in a team environment, takes direction well, and represents the company with professionalism both on-site and with clients. Most work is performed at operator sites in heavy oil fields throughout northeast Alberta and Saskatchewan, with occasional international project opportunities. This is predominantly outdoor work performed alongside drilling rigs, service rigs, and other oilfield service providers. Accommodations for out-of-town assignments are typically provided through operator dry camps or hotels. Working as part of a 2–4 person crew under the direction of the Coil Tubing Supervisor, the Picker Operator supports field operations and helps ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to Petrospec’s high standards of quality. Responsibilities include operating picker/crane equipment, supporting the mobilization and handling of coiled tubing equipment and related tools, and assisting with the installation, testing, pack-off, and termination of downhole instrumentation at the wellsite. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring a valid driver’s licence, a satisfactory driver’s abstract, and compliance with Petrospec’s Drug & Alcohol Testing Program. Candidates must be physically capable of working outdoors in varying weather conditions and be willing to travel for local and remote assignments. Petrospec offers opportunities for technical development, ticket renewals, specialized training, and career advancement for people who work hard and enjoy learning in a fast-paced environment. Coil tubing experience is preferred, and qualified candidates with strong picker operating experience who are eager to learn are encouraged to apply.
