Niik Steel Inc. – Nanaimo, BC Niik Steel Inc. is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented CNC Operator to join our production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating CNC machinery used in structural steel fabrication, ensuring accurate production, quality workmanship, and compliance with shop safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities
- Operate CNC machinery and automated equipment used in structural steel fabrication.
- Read and interpret shop drawings, fabrication details, and cutting instructions.
- Set up machines, load materials, select programs, and monitor machining operations.
- Verify dimensions and finished components against drawings and specifications.
- Perform routine machine inspections, housekeeping, and basic preventative maintenance.
- Identify production issues, material discrepancies, and equipment malfunctions and report them to the Shop Supervisor.
- Follow established quality control procedures and production schedules.
- Safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment as required.
- Maintain accurate production records and complete required daily timecards.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable workplace regulations. Qualifications and Experience
- Previous CNC machine operating experience, preferably in a steel fabrication or manufacturing environment.




- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and measurements.
- Familiarity with CNC programming, machine setup, and material handling is an asset.
- Knowledge of structural steel products and fabrication processes is preferred.
- Ability to use measuring instruments such as tape measures, calipers, and squares.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
- Willingness to learn and operate different types of production equipment.
- Overhead crane and forklift experience is an asset. Working Conditions
- Industrial steel fabrication shop environment.
- Standing for extended periods and handling steel materials.
- Regular lifting, bending, and physical activity.
- Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Compensation and Benefits
- Wages and applicable benefits in accordance with the Niik Steel Inc. – Shop Local Union #712 Collective Agreement.
