The Editor will assign stories, write multiple weekly bylines, and edit all content before publication. The position replaces the long-time Editor preparing to retire. Candidates need local newspaper editing experience, journalism education, communication skills, and knowledge of digital publishing applications.
Key Responsibilities: Assign stories to reporters and freelance contributors
Write multiple bylines each week
Edit content and determine newspaper coverage
Help lay out the weekly newspaper with InDesign
Represent the newspaper at community events
Requirements: Three to five years editing a local community newspaper
College or university journalism degree
Excellent communication and public interaction skills
Proficiency with InDesign newspaper layout
Working knowledge of social media and website applications
