About Us
Sovereign Current Edge Group Ltd. is a growing general contracting and consulting firm based in Richmond, BC. We specialize in a wide range of projects across the Lower Mainland — from commercial tenant improvements and ground-up construction to residential builds — and we’re looking for a talented Bookkeeper / Accountant to join our team and help us keep our financial operations running smoothly.
About the Role
This is a hands-on accounting role at the center of our financial operations. You’ll own day-to-day bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and the compliance work that keeps our books accurate and up to date. You’ll work directly with and report to the Controller, supporting the financial processes that keep our projects and business running smoothly. This is an ideal role for an organized, detail-oriented accounting professional who wants broad exposure across the full accounting cycle in a fast-moving construction environment — with room to grow as the company scales.
Key Responsibilities
*Accounts Payable & Bookkeeping*
- Own full-cycle bookkeeping including accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, and general journal entries
- Review invoices and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness, coding, and appropriate approvals
- Enter and manage purchase orders and change orders in QuickBooks; maintain accurate logs
- Review incoming invoices against existing purchase orders where applicable and flag discrepancies before processing
- Prepare and maintain bank reconciliations; ensure all transactions are posted and cleared within the period
- Prepare and maintain credit card reconciliations and monthly expense reports
- Process vendor payables and coordinate payments accurately and on time
- Maintain accurate and organized accounting records and supporting documentation *Accounts Receivable & Project Support*
- Prepare and organize supporting documentation required for client invoicing
- Prepare and maintain payment schedules related to invoicing
- Coordinate with Project Managers to obtain required billing documentation and resolve accounting or invoicing questions
- Support the collections process through timely follow-up on outstanding customer balances *Compliance & Reporting*
- Prepare annual GST remittances and support other government filings as required
- Support the Controller in preparing monthly and quarterly working papers and financial reports
- Run GL variance analysis and flag items for review
- Assist with year-end financial statements and tax return preparation; compile and organize supporting documentation for the company’s external tax accountant
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, maintain efficient workflows, and leverage AI tools to help automate and streamline recurring tasks Desired Skills & Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, or a similar accounting support role
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online (required)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office
- Comfortable using AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) to improve speed and accuracy — or a genuine curiosity to learn
- Strong understanding of full-cycle bookkeeping and basic accounting principles
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
- Proactive and quick to learn, adapting when priorities shift
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Trusted with sensitive financial information and consistent in exercising discretion
- Experience in the construction industry is an asset
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
What We Offer
