Vehicle Wrap & Graphic Designer Decals and Signs | Edmonton, AB $24–$30 per hour + discretionary performance bonuses Full-time, 40 hours per week, with permanent employment following a successful two-month probationary period. Monday to Friday, 8:30 am–5:00 pm, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch. Some flexibility on hours. This is an in-person position at 16750-121 Ave NW, Edmonton.
About us
Decals and Signs has been designing, printing and installing graphics in Edmonton since 1991, when we started as Hot Plates Inc. at West Edmonton Mall. Most of our design work is commercial vehicle wraps: vans, trucks, trailers and fleets for trades, construction and industrial businesses. We also produce signage, wall murals, window graphics, trade show displays and custom apparel. Our in-house team prints on Roland and HP Latex printers, cuts on a Graphtec plotter, and brings designs to life through our 3M Preferred installers, usually within days of approval.
About the role
Our goal is to get each customer to a confident “approved, print it” You’ll work directly with customers to understand their business, recommend a design direction, present options and manage revisions. You’ll also solve practical challenges such as door handles, rivets, hinges, access doors and low-resolution logos. We’re looking for someone who is as comfortable talking to customers as they are designing. You’ll email, text and call clients, follow up, discuss pricing and help close the sale. Our main design and production workflow runs through FlexiSign and Production Manager for print setup and RIP output. Illustrator and Photoshop workflows are also welcome, especially for detailed design, photo editing, effects and mockups, along with AI tools where useful. We’ll train you on our FlexiSign workflow so your designs move smoothly from customer-approved PDF proofs to production-ready files. What the work looks like Most wrap projects take one to two weeks from first contact to print-ready artwork. You’ll manage several jobs at different stages, moving one forward while another waits for customer feedback. Our production target is approximately five full wraps or eight half wraps every two weeks, designed, approved and staged for print. Vehicle wraps will be your main focus, with other projects assigned as workload allows, including signage, wall murals, window graphics, apparel graphics and logo creation. We’ll provide ideas and creative direction where needed, and you’ll help develop them into finished designs and production-ready artwork. A typical project, such as an enclosed trailer for a plumbing company, involves:
- Measuring and photographing the vehicle or working from our templates.
- Speaking with the customer about their goals and what the wrap needs to do for their business.
- Creating three design options on the actual vehicle, showing the front, sides and rear.
- Presenting the options, managing revisions and obtaining approval.
- Preparing production files with panels, bleed and cut lines. The focus is on keeping projects moving reliably, with decisive design work, clear communication and accurate production files. Every option you present should come with a reason: what it does for the customer's business, how it ties into their existing branding, and how it handles the vehicle itself. Lead the customer to the right result instead of sending a design and asking “how does it look?” Specialists and all-rounders welcome We may hire more than one person and are open to:
- Raster-focused designers: Photoshop, realistic mockups, photo editing, effects and AI image work.
- Vector-focused designers: Illustrator, logo rebuilds, clean layouts and production-ready files.
- All-rounders who are strong in both. Whichever describes you, people skills are essential. You’ll work directly with customers and our team every day. Designers who can handle both vector and raster work while independently managing the customer relationship will have the strongest earning and growth opportunities. What you bring
- A portfolio showing strong design ability. Vehicle wrap or large-format experience is a big plus, but strong work in other areas counts.
- Strong vector or raster skills, ideally both.
- Active use of AI tools such as ChatGPT image generation, Claude, Gemini or similar in your design process, with an interest in developing those skills.
- Excellent spoken and written English for daily customer communication.
- A personable, self-sufficient approach and an enjoyment of solving problems.
- Confidence following up, presenting options, discussing pricing and asking for approval.
- Reliability, punctuality and availability to work in person at our shop. Additional assets
- Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop experience, preferred but not required.
- FlexiSign, Production Manager or other sign and RIP software experience. We can provide training.
- Vehicle wrap design experience, including vehicle templates.
- A sales or customer service background.
- A valid driver’s licence.
What we offer
- $24–$30 per hour, based on your skills and range, with a pay review at the end of probation.
- Discretionary performance bonuses for designers who consistently exceed our production target while maintaining quality work and happy customers. Meeting the target is part of the base-pay expectations.
- Your own design workstation with a 57-inch Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 dual-4K monitor.
- Access to Illustrator, Photoshop, FlexiSign, Production Manager, AI image-generation tools, wrap templates and past projects.
- Steady full-time work with some scheduling flexibility.
- A small team where good work, initiative and follow-through are recognized.
- On-site parking.
- The opportunity to see your designs on vehicles, signage and murals throughout Edmonton. Growth opportunities
- First two months: learn our templates, proofing standards and print setup, and begin managing projects from first contact through approval.
- After probation: a pay review and eligibility for discretionary performance bonuses once you’re independently managing jobs.
- As we grow: opportunities may include a lead designer position, training and reviewing other designers, or a design and sales role managing your own customer accounts. Growth comes through consistent performance, initiative and care for the customer. How hiring works 1. Apply through Indeed with your résumé and portfolio, then complete our application form:https://careers.decalsandsigns.ca/designer?src=indeed 2. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a paid trial day of approximately eight hours on a Saturday or Sunday, in person at our Edmonton shop. You’ll work through practical tasks that assess design ability, speed and customer communication using our workstation and software, followed by a review together. This gives both sides a chance to see how you work within the team and the environment you’d be joining. 3. The position begins with a two-month probationary period, with check-ins along the way and a full review at the end. If it’s a good fit on both sides, employment continues as permanent full-time. Only applicants who complete the application form will be considered. Everyone who applies will hear back from us within two weeks, either way. If you enjoy working with people, solving practical design challenges and seeing your work go from screen to street, we’d like to hear from you. Pay: $24.00-$30.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
