Protection and Control troubleshooting awaits a Summer Student at AltaLink’s Janet Service Center in Calgary. Work on telecommunications equipment supporting Alberta’s transmission system.

This four-month student term starts May 2027 within AltaLink’s Field Operations South Team. Reporting to the Manager, P&C; Telecom North, you will support transmission-system operation and maintenance. The work emphasizes Protection & Control equipment, telecommunications devices, safe work practices, and customer reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

- Troubleshoot, inspect, and maintain Protection & Control devices
- Maintain telecommunications devices associated with AltaLink’s transmission system
- Develop Field Level Hazard Assessments and Safe Work Plans




- Respond to regional Protection & Control equipment trouble
- Support Field Operations and other disciplines as required

Requirements:

- Full time enrollment in a related two-year technology program
- Study Electrical, Wireless, Telecom, or Electronics Engineering Technology
- Understand safety practices, procedures, and workplace standards
- Use computers and spreadsheets comfortably
- Hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license
