Thunder Creek Pork

Moose Jaw

Safety isn't a compliance checkbox here. It's how we protect the people who show up every day and do the work.

At Thunder Creek Pork Inc. in Moose Jaw, we're looking for a Safety Coordinator who wants to own the floor, someone who builds trust with frontline workers, keeps the program running without being told, and treats documentation as a tool, not a burden. If you're the kind of person who'd rather be out on the production floor than behind a desk, you'll fit right in.

About Donald's Fine Foods

Donald's Fine Foods is a family-owned specialty meat processing company with six production facilities across British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. We operate three brands: North 49 Foods, Thunder Creek Pork, and Britco Pork and we're growing. Our P&C; team is building out enterprise OH&S; infrastructure, and this role sits at the center of that effort at the plant level.

The Role

As Safety Coordinator at Thunder Creek Pork Inc., you're the day-to-day safety presence for a site of approximately 200 employees. You report to the Director, People & Culture with a dotted line to the Plant Manager.

What You'll Do

Day-to-Day Safety Operations

- Conduct routine workplace inspections and follow corrective actions through to closure
- Perform hazard assessments for new tasks, equipment changes, and process modifications
- Keep PPE, safety signage, and equipment safeguards in place and maintained
- Monitor and enforce WHMIS, lockout/tagout, confined space, and other plant-specific programs

Incident Management

- Respond to workplace incidents; coordinate initial care and secure the scene
- Conduct investigations to DFF's enterprise standard with documentation completed on time

- Submit regulatory incident reports to SK OHS within legislated timelines
- Track corrective actions and escalate unresolved items appropriately

Training & Orientation

- Deliver safety orientations for all new hires, including temp and agency workers
- Facilitate toolbox talks and refresher training aligned to the enterprise training calendar
- Maintain training records and surface gaps before they become issues

JHSC & Reporting

- Co-chair or support the Joint Health and Safety Committee in line with SK requirements
- Prepare agendas, facilitate meetings, track recommendations, and report outcomes
- Provide weekly safety activity updates and contribute plant data to enterprise reporting
- Partner with the HR Generalist on return-to-work, modified duty, and WCB coordination

What You Bring

- 3+ years in an OH&S; or safety role in industrial, manufacturing, or food processing
- Working knowledge of Saskatchewan OH&S; legislation
- NCSO, CRSP, or equivalent, or actively working toward it. Plus valid WHMIS and First Aid
- Strong written communication; comfortable writing investigation reports and maintaining records
- Physical readiness for an active processing environment: cold storage, wet floors, loud machinery

Nice to Have

- Experience in food processing or federally inspected plant environments
- JHSC certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months)
- Bilingual in English and another language spoken in the Moose Jaw workforce

What Success Looks Like — First 6 Months

- Inspection schedule established and running without prompting
- JHSC calendar set and first meetings facilitated
- All new hire orientations delivered to enterprise standard
- Plant safety documentation audit complete with a remediation plan submitted
- Strong working relationships with the Plant Manager, supervisors, and frontline workers
- Zero missed regulatory reporting deadlines

Why This Role

This is a real program with real resources behind it. DFF is actively investing in its P&C; and safety infrastructure across all six plants, and the Moose Jaw site is a meaningful part of that. You'll have enterprise-level support and the autonomy to build something that matters at the floor level.

If you want a safety role where your work is visible, your relationships with workers are what drive outcomes, and you're part of a company that's genuinely growing, this is it.
