Accounting & Administration Specialist
Confidential Employer | Central Alberta | Full-Time
A well-established organization in Central Alberta is seeking an experienced Accounting & Administration Specialist to join its team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is confident working independently, understands accounting processes, and can step into an established environment and quickly take ownership of their responsibilities.
We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running — an organized, dependable professional who is comfortable managing competing priorities, maintaining accurate financial information, and supporting both accounting and operational administration.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Controller and other members of the organization while managing responsibilities across accounts receivable, accounting administration, reporting and general business support.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, payment tracking, account reconciliation and customer account follow-up.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and support timely collection of accounts.
- Maintain accurate customer account records and resolve discrepancies as required.
- Provide backup support to accounts payable, including invoice processing, reconciliation and payment-related activities.
- Assist the Controller with month-end accounting activities, reconciliations, reporting and other financial requirements.
- Support the Controller with special projects, financial analysis and accounting initiatives as required.
- Manage and coordinate intercompany billing cycles, ensuring transactions are accurate,
properly documented and completed within required timelines.
- Maintain and regularly update multiple operational and financial spreadsheets.
- Support administration related to operations, payroll and employee information, where required.
- Prepare reports and compile information for management.
- Maintain organized and accurate electronic and financial records.
- Identify discrepancies or process issues and proactively work toward resolution.
- Provide general administrative support across the organization as required.
- Assist with process improvements and the development of more efficient administrative and accounting practices.
What We’re Looking For
This position requires someone with solid accounting experience who does not require significant hands-on training in fundamental accounting processes.
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Several years of progressive experience in accounts receivable, accounting administration, bookkeeping or a similar accounting role.
- Strong practical knowledge of accounts receivable processes and reconciliations.
- Previous exposure to accounts payable and month-end accounting processes.
- Experience working with accounting software and maintaining detailed financial records.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and confidence managing multiple spreadsheets and data sets.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- The ability to independently prioritize and manage multiple deadlines.
- Sound judgment and discretion when working with confidential financial, payroll and employee information.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- A willingness to take ownership of responsibilities and follow issues through to resolution.
The Person
We are particularly interested in someone who is:
- Experienced and able to become productive quickly.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
- Proactive rather than waiting to be directed on every task.
- Detail-oriented without losing sight of deadlines and operational priorities.
- Comfortable switching between accounting, reporting and administrative responsibilities.
- Dependable, professional and accountable.
- Interested in finding better and more efficient ways of doing things.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys being an integral part of a business and prefers a diverse role rather than working within a narrowly defined accounting function.
This recruitment is being conducted confidentially. The position is based in Central Alberta, and additional information regarding the organization and specific work location will be provided to candidates selected to advance in the recruitment process.
Pay: $52,000.00-$68,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
