Job Summary

The Dishwasher / Prep Cook / Cleaner is responsible for supporting the kitchen and dining operations by maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment. This role includes washing dishes, assisting with food preparation, and performing daily and deep cleaning of the kitchen and dining areas. The position is critical to ensuring efficient food service and maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety.

Hours: 12pm-8pm - Rotating Weekends.

Key Responsibilities

Dishwashing Duties:

- Collect and wash dishes, utensils, pots, and pans from the kitchen and dining room.
- Operate commercial dishwashing equipment and hand-wash specialty items.
- Air-dry and store clean dishes and equipment in the appropriate areas.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of dishwashing and storage areas.

Prep Cook Duties:

- Assist cooks with basic food preparation, including washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning ingredients.
- Prepare salads, garnishes, and other simple menu items as assigned.
- Label, date, and store prepared items in accordance with food safety standards.
- Clean and sanitize prep areas after use.

Cleaning Duties – Kitchen and Dining Room:

- Perform daily cleaning tasks: countertops, prep tables, sinks, shelving, floors, and equipment surfaces.
- Conduct scheduled deep cleaning of ovens, grills, walk-in coolers, walls, doors, and garbage bins.
- Clear, sanitize, and maintain dining room tables, chairs,



floors, and beverage stations.
- Dispose of garbage and recycling according to policy.
- Maintain cleaning supplies and report any maintenance or safety issues.

Health, Safety, and Compliance:

- Follow all food safety, infection control, and workplace health and safety regulations.
- Report spills, hazards, or injuries immediately.
- Work cooperatively with kitchen, dining room, and supervisory staff.
- Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.

Qualifications / Requirements

- Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, food preparation, or cleaning role preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to safely operate commercial dishwashing equipment.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weight, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Team-oriented with positive communication skills.
- Must be able to speak and read English proficiently.
- Food Safe Handler Certification is considered an asset.
- Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Records Check) is required.

Working Conditions
