Our Lab Technicians are responsible for performing a variety of technician duties including testing of products, record keeping, analysis of results, communication of results and routine lab equipment maintenance in the Quality Assurance Lab. Some Lab management or Food Safety experience an asset!

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to: Quality Assurance Manager

Internal Contacts: Operators, Process Manager

External Contacts: none

Key Responsibility Areas:

- Testing and Record Keeping including:

· Performs a variety of chemical, physical and microbial testing according to testing schedules and as required

· Takes necessary action as indicated by lab test results including: repeating tests to confirm results, notifying the Manager of problems and/or production staff and stopping product shipments in extreme cases and after consulting with the Quality Assurance Manager.

· Keeps thorough and accurate records of test results.

- Equipment Maintenance including:

· Performs routine maintenance on lab equipment as directed and informs the Manager when equipment needs repair or if the lab needs supplies of chemicals.

· Maintains area cleanliness to the expected standard set by Area Manager and Company.

- Safety and Housekeeping including:

· Follows all safety and health requirements in the lab.

· Performs daily safety inspections

· Maintains cleanliness & appearance in and around the lab

- Health and Safety including:

· Ensures all housekeeping guidelines are followed at all times

· Ensures all safety rules and guidelines are followed at all times including turning off and locking out equipment when not in use or under repair.

· Wears all Required PPE as expected by Permolex.

· Ensures that appropriate respiratory fit protection is worn as per company policies.

· Attends all recommended industry safety training as required by the company. Example: Confined Space, Fall Protection, First Aid, WHMIS,



Respiratory Fit Testing, Forklift or any other required equipment training.

Entry Level Qualifications:

Education: Chemical, biological or related technician diploma or equivalency

Experience: Several (1-2) years related lab experience Agriculture background preferred
