About the role
We are a full-service sheet metal fabrication company in Scarborough, specializing in products for the elevator industry — elevator fixtures, machine room guarding, car top guards and elevator cab components — along with custom metal fabrication and engraving. Our products are built to meet Canadian safety standards.

We're looking for a hands-on Shop Manager to run the day-to-day in the shop: taking orders in, keeping every job on schedule, leading a crew of 6 to 8, and making sure finished work is ready when customers arrive to pick it up. This is a working manager role, not a desk job — you'll need real experience in a sheet metal shop and a working knowledge of the equipment on the floor. This role is intended to grow into higher management, so we're looking for someone with ambition who wants to build a future here, not just fill a position.

What you'll do

- Receive new orders and communicate with customers in person, by phone and by email
- Plan and schedule production, and track every job — its stage, priorities and due date — so work is completed on time
- Lead a shop team of 6 to 8 and keep every workstation moving
- Create DXF files for production as needed
- Order materials from suppliers and monitor inventory levels
- Monitor material and labour costs on each job, ensuring jobs stay within budget
- Create purchase orders in QuickBooks Online (will train)
- Support the machine operators and help on the floor as needed
- Ensure quality control of every finished product before it goes out
- Keep the shop secure and organized, and make sure safety practices are followed
- Flag delays or problems early and keep customers informed

What you'll bring





- At least 5 years of experience working in a sheet metal fabrication shop — a must have
- Ability to create DXF files a strong asset
- Working knowledge of sheet metal shop equipment: shear, brake press, plasma cutting equipment, a CNC punch press and welding equipment — you can operate it yourself, or you understand it well enough to supervise the people who do
- Hands-on welding experience (MIG, TIG and spot welding)
- Experience leading or supervising a team
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and job specifications
- Strong organizational and communication skills, and comfort working with email and computers day-to-day
- The ambition to grow into higher management as you learn the business
- Must have a full G driver's licence

Nice to have

- Experience in the elevator industry
- Previous QuickBooks Online experience — an asset; training provided
- Forklift certificate — an asset
