Technical Service Manager – Generators & Power Systems

Greater Vancouver / Lower Mainland, BC
$120,000–$140,000 Base + Performance Bonus
Full-Time | Technical Leadership | Service Operations & Growth

Why Consider This Opportunity?

Looking for more than another management position? Here's an opportunity to help build something.

Join an established Canadian power-systems company with ambitious growth plans, strong technical capabilities and the backing to expand its service operations.

The business is at an exciting stage: small enough for your ideas and leadership to make a real difference, but with the expertise, resources and ambition to grow significantly.

We're looking for someone who enjoys developing people, building strong teams and putting the right processes in place to support growth. You'll have the opportunity to shape how the service department operates today and what it becomes tomorrow.

What's in It for You?

- Base salary: $120,000–$140,000, depending on experience.
- Performance bonus: Potential total annual cash compensation of approximately $160,000 at the top of the range, subject to bonus performance and plan terms.
- Vacation: Three weeks, with flexibility for four weeks for the right candidate.
- Real ownership: Lead and develop a service department with meaningful input into its future direction.
- Growth chance: Help expand the team, strengthen operations and contribute directly to the company's continued success.

The Opportunity

You'll initially lead a team of approximately two to three Generator Technicians, with responsibility for developing the people,

processes and service capabilities needed as the business grows.

This is a working Service Manager position, combining technical leadership, day-to-day operations, customer relationships and business development of the service function.

You'll be supported by an experienced organization but have the autonomy to make decisions, solve problems and improve how things are done.

What You'll Be Responsible For

- Lead and develop people: Coach, mentor and support technicians while establishing clear expectations, accountability and a positive team culture.
- Run service operations: Oversee scheduling, dispatch, field assignments, emergency response, commissioning, warranty work and customer commitments.
- Provide technical support: Help technicians troubleshoot generator, mechanical, electrical and control-system issues, including occasional onsite involvement.
- Own the customer experience: Manage service relationships, resolve escalations and ensure responsive, professional support.
- Build for growth: Improve service processes, technician productivity, reporting, performance measures and the infrastructure required to scale the department.

What We're Looking For

- Proven leadership experience managing technical field-service teams and day-to-day service operations.
- Strong practical mechanical and electrical knowledge, with the ability to support complex troubleshooting.
- Experience developing technicians, managing customers and improving operational performance.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to build efficient, accountable service operations.
- An organized, hands-on leadership style and genuine interest in developing people and growing a business.

Direct experience with diesel or natural-gas generators, power generation, ATS systems or commissioning is strongly preferred.

Exceptional service leaders from industrial electrical, HVAC, heavy equipment, diesel engines or other complex electromechanical service environments will also be considered.

Location & Travel

Based primarily at the company's Greater Vancouver operation, with occasional field support and travel averaging approximately five days per month, depending on business needs. Some travel may involve other parts of Canada or the United States.

The Right Person

You're technically credible, organized and comfortable leading from the front. You enjoy supporting your team, solving customer problems and taking ownership of results.

Most importantly, you see the opportunity in building something bigger—developing a strong service team today while helping create the systems, culture and capabilities that will support tomorrow's growth.

Pay: $120,000.00-$140,000.00 per year
