This is not therapy, counselling, or caregiving. It’s simply human connection.

About the Role

Position: Conversation Companion
Type: Independent Contractor
Compensation: Paid per completed conversation
Schedule: Flexible, based on your availability
Location: Remote

As a Companion, you’ll have one-to-one conversations with Companiyo members.

Conversations may include everyday life, interests, hobbies, experiences, ideas, stories, or simply whatever the person feels like talking about.

You don’t need to be an entertainer or have a particular professional background.

You simply need to be someone people enjoy talking with.

Who We’re Looking For

You may be a great fit if you:

- Enjoy genuine one-to-one conversations
- Are a good listener and genuinely curious about people
- Are warm, patient, respectful, and dependable
- Can make people feel comfortable and welcome
- Enjoy hearing different perspectives, stories, and experiences
- Are comfortable speaking with people from different backgrounds and age groups
- Communicate clearly and naturally
- Can maintain appropriate boundaries and confidentiality
- Have a quiet, private, and comfortable space for uninterrupted conversations
- Are comfortable using basic technology, including video calls and online scheduling

Experience That Is an Asset

Previous experience in people-focused or communication-based roles is an asset, including:

- Teaching or education
- Nursing or healthcare
- Administration
- Customer service
- Hospitality
- Community or volunteer work
- Communications




- Marketing or social media
- Human resources
- Coaching or other people-focused professions

What You’ll Do

As a Companiyo Companion, you will:

- Have one-to-one conversations with members
- Listen and engage naturally in conversation
- Talk about everyday life, interests, hobbies, experiences, and ideas
- Create a warm, comfortable, and respectful conversational environment
- Respect each member’s privacy and personal boundaries
- Be prepared and punctual for scheduled conversations
- Follow Companiyo’s Companion guidelines and safety standards

Technology Requirements

Because Companiyo conversations take place online, Companions must have:

- A reliable, high-speed internet connection suitable for clear video and audio conversations
- Their own laptop or desktop computer capable of supporting video calls
- Their own headset with a microphone for clear, private conversations
- A quiet and private space where conversations can take place without interruptions
- Basic comfort using video calls and online scheduling tools

Companions are responsible for providing their own computer, headset, and internet connection.

Before You Begin

All Companiyo Companions complete a screening and onboarding process before speaking with members.

This includes an interview and may include:

- Identity verification
- Background screening
- Companion training
- Technology and communication readiness

Only approved Companions can begin having conversations with Companiyo members.
