ABOUT PENALTA GROUP

Penalta Group is an Oakville-based general contractor that has delivered commercial, institutional and industrial projects across the GTA for more than 25 years. We're a lean team of about 50 people. Our superintendents run their sites with real ownership and work directly with project managers and leadership, without layers of management in between.

We're looking for a seasoned Site Superintendent to lead our projects as the general contractor, from mobilization through closeout.

THE ROLE

You'll be the lead presence on site and the main point of contact for trades, consultants and inspectors. You'll work alongside a project manager and project coordinator and report to our VP of Construction. Our work includes ground-up builds and complex renovations, including occupied and phased sites.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

- Manage day-to-day site operations from mobilization through closeout, maintaining safety and quality standards while meeting schedule and budget requirements
- Develop and maintain the 5-week look-ahead schedule, monitor milestones and the critical path, and implement recovery plans when delays arise
- Hold pre-mobilization meetings with each trade and regular foreman meetings, with documented minutes
- Lead site safety and enforce OHSA requirements through daily inspections, hazard assessments, toolbox talks, trade orientations and documented follow-up on violations
- Plan site logistics, including phasing, deliveries, laydown areas, equipment and coordination around occupied spaces and neighbouring properties
- Inspect work as it progresses, track deficiencies throughout the project, and identify drawing and specification conflicts before work begins
- Identify changes, extras and differing site conditions, document time and materials work, and support the project manager with change orders
- Keep daily logs, RFIs, inspections and submittals current in Procore
- Coordinate consultant, municipal and third-party inspections,



permanent services and occupancy
- Keep the project manager, clients, consultants and neighbours informed through clear, timely updates
- Mentor assistant superintendents, field staff and site coordinators

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Experience & Background

- 8+ years of site supervision, including recent experience as the lead superintendent for a general contractor on ICI projects
- Has led projects through the full build, from excavation and foundations through occupancy and closeout
- Hands-on experience sequencing shoring, excavation, concrete and structural work, as well as envelope and interior finishing trades
- Experience with renovations in occupied or phased buildings is a strong asset
- Strong structural and concrete experience gained through high-rise or mid-rise projects is valued, especially when paired with recent ICI experience

Experience & Background

- Proficiency in Procore for daily logs, RFIs, inspections and deficiencies, as well as Bluebeam and MS Project or similar scheduling software
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical drawings and specifications, and apply geotechnical reports in the field
- Working knowledge of OHSA, the Construction Projects regulation (O. Reg. 213/91) and the Ontario Building Code
- Working at Heights and Supervisor Health and Safety Awareness training; First Aid/CPR is an asset
- Valid driver's licence for travel between GTA project sites
