Position Summary:

Akita Drilling is hiring a full-time Mechanical Designer/Drafter in Nisku, Alberta. The role supports operations, marketing, and projects through equipment design, standards review, and investigations.

- Candidates need related technical education or equivalent experience, AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor skills, strong communication, and the ability to work outdoors and in confined spaces.

- Preferred experience includes heavy equipment, drilling operations, industrial fabrication, welding procedures, and quality assurance systems for manufacturing or oil and gas.

Key Responsibilities:

Providing Technical and/or Engineering support for Operations, Marketing and Projects, which will include:

- Design and drafting of land based drilling equipment
- Regulatory & industry standards review and interpretation
- Participating in failure investigations

Positional Requirements:

- Technical Certificate, Technical Diploma,



or Bachelor's Degree from an industry recognized program or accredited post-secondary institution in a related engineering discipline or equivalent experience
- Training or experience in AutoCad and Autodesk Inventor (SolidWorks training will also be considered)
- Effective Verbal and Written Communication
- Collaborate across multi-disciplinary team
- Physical ability to climb equipment and move about in tight spaces
- Capable of temporarily working outdoors in all conditions

Complementary Skills:

- Experience in a heavy equipment environment
- Knowledge of Drilling Operational Processes
- Mechanical Equipment Design/Industrial Fabrication Experience
- Knowledge of Welding/Welding Procedures
- Knowledge of Quality Assurance Systems as applicable to Manufacturing/Oil and Gas

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
