Senior Three-Layer Blown Film Extrusion Operator

Location: Langley, BC
Experience Required: Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience operating three-layer blown film co-extrusion lines

We are looking for an experienced Blown Film Extrusion Operator with a minimum of 5 years of direct, hands-on experience operating three-layer (A/B/C) blown film co-extrusion lines.

Candidates must have actual production experience running three-layer blown film equipment. General extrusion or monolayer-only experience is not sufficient for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

- Independently start up, operate, stabilize, and shut down three-layer A/B/C blown film co-extrusion lines.
- Set and balance A/B/C layer ratios and individual extruder outputs.
- Run HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE, and various resin blends and formulations.
- Set and adjust screw speeds, temperatures, output rates, nip speeds, and cooling parameters.
- Set up and stabilize the bubble, including BUR, frost line, and layflat.
- Operate and adjust IBC systems and air rings.
- Operate automatic gauge-control and film-thickness measurement systems.
- Monitor and correct gauge/profile variation.
- Perform resin, formulation, size, and product changeovers.
- Troubleshoot bubble instability, layflat fluctuation, gauge variation, wrinkles, winding issues, and other blown-film operating problems.
- Maintain consistent film quality while minimizing scrap and downtime.

Required Qualifications:





- Minimum 5 years of direct operating experience on three-layer blown film co-extrusion lines.
- Proven ability to independently start up and stabilize a three-layer blown film line.
- Robust understanding of A/B/C extruder operation and layer-ratio control.
- Strong hands-on experience with bubble control, IBC, air rings, nip systems, gauge control, and winders.
- Experience running HDPE blown film is strongly preferred.
- Experience with automatic air-ring/gauge-control systems is an asset.

Shifts Layfield offers:

- 12-hour rotating shift
- Day shift - 7AM to 7PM, Night shift - 7PM to 7AM
- All employees work a day shift and night shift on a two-week rotation

This is a hands-on operator position. Applicants without direct three-layer blown film co-extrusion operating experience will not be considered.

Pay: $30.00-$34.00 per hour
