AC Metal Fabricating Ltd. is currently seeking an experienced Structural Steel Fitter / Welder to join our team.

This is a full time, permanent position for an intermediate to senior-level candidate with experience in structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication. Depending on production requirements and the project being worked on, the successful candidate may be responsible for fitting structural steel, welding, or a combination of both.

The ideal candidate will be capable of reading fabrication drawings, laying out and fitting structural steel components, completing welds to required specifications, and working independently while maintaining quality and productivity standards.

Responsibilities:

- Read and interpret structural steel shop drawings and specifications
- Lay out, position, fit, and assemble structural and miscellaneous steel components according to drawings
- Perform accurate measurements and layout using tape measures, squares, levels, and other fabrication tools
- Tack weld and weld components and assemblies as required
- Perform welding in flat and horizontal positions when required
- Cut steel using saws, torches, plasma cutting equipment, and other powered or hand tools
- Grind, clean, and prepare steel components as required
- Heat, straighten, form, and adjust steel components when necessary
- Identify and correct fit-up or dimensional issues
- Use jigs, fixtures, templates, and other work aids as required
- Operate overhead cranes and material-handling equipment safely
- Maintain quality and dimensional accuracy throughout the production process
- Follow company safety procedures and applicable welding and fabrication standards
- Assist with rework, modifications, and repairs when required
- Perform fitting, welding,



or a combination of both depending on production requirements
- Maintain a clean and organized work area

Requirements:

- Previous experience in structural steel fitting and/or welding
- Strong ability to read and interpret structural steel shop drawings
- Ability to accurately use a tape measure and common layout tools
- Experience fitting structural steel components and assemblies
- Welding experience in a steel fabrication environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
- Ability to identify and solve fit-up and dimensional problems
- Ability to safely operate common steel fabrication equipment and tools
- Ability to work efficiently while meeting production schedules and deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

- Previous structural and miscellaneous steel experience
- CWB welding certification or previous experience welding to CWB requirements
- Experience operating overhead cranes
- Experience with MCAW welding
- Experience working with beams, columns, stairs, railings, frames, and other structural or miscellaneous steel assemblies
