West Coast Building Restoration Inc. is seeking an experienced estimator with a strong understanding of building envelope restoration.

We are a general contractor specializing in building envelope restoration and undertaking a broad range of construction, renovation and rehabilitation projects. Our work includes cladding, windows and doors, roofing, waterproofing, concrete and parkade restoration, structural repairs, interior finishing, landscaping, mechanical, electrical and other scopes required to deliver a complete project.

You will prepare complete estimates across all required trades, combining your own takeoffs and pricing with quotations from specialty subcontractors and suppliers. This requires understanding how the different scopes fit together, identifying gaps and ensuring all work is accounted for.

We’re looking for someone who understands the work, prepares thorough estimates and communicates clearly with our team, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors.

About the role

You will manage multiple estimates at different stages, taking assigned tenders from initial review through submission. You will work closely with company leadership and our project managers, with management reviewing final pricing, project risks and bid strategy.

As a general contractor, we estimate the complete project. This means accounting for all trades, access, protection, supervision, sequencing and the practical challenges of working on existing, occupied buildings.

Your responsibilities

- Review drawings, specifications, reports and addenda to identify the complete scope of work.
- Attend site visits, assess existing conditions and prepare clarification questions for consultants.




- Complete accurate digital quantity takeoffs and check quantities provided by external estimators.
- Prepare trade-specific requests for quotation, follow up on pricing and review quotations for exclusions, overlaps and missing scope.
- Build detailed estimates covering labour, materials, subcontractors, equipment, access, hoarding, temporary protection and general conditions.
- Account for project duration, phasing, weather protection, material lead times and occupied-building requirements.
- Prepare bid forms, unit rates, alternate prices and clear proposal inclusions and exclusions.
- Manage several estimates simultaneously while keeping documents, pricing and deadlines organized.
- Present estimates and outstanding risks to management before submission.
- Hand awarded projects over to project managers with clear budgets, quotations and scope information.
- Maintain pricing records and apply feedback from completed projects to future estimates.

Required qualifications

- Direct experience estimating building envelope restoration or rehabilitation projects.
- Proficiency in digital quantity takeoff software such as PlanSwift, including the ability to independently complete accurate takeoffs from drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, estimate preparation and detailed cost breakdowns.
- The ability to estimate multiple projects at the same time, manage competing priorities and meet tender deadlines.




- Robust communication skills and proficiency in spoken and written English, including the ability to understand technical documents and prepare clear correspondence, scope descriptions and proposals.
- Applicants must currently live locally, within commuting distance of our Maple Ridge office.
- Experience reading construction drawings and specifications and coordinating pricing across multiple trades.
- A valid driver’s licence and the ability to attend project sites throughout the Lower Mainland.

Ideally, you will have at least five years of construction estimating experience. General contractor experienced and practical field experience. Relevant construction education is valued alongside demonstrated estimating ability.
