Position Information:

Porters are responsible for the secure and timely transportation of patients; the handling of supplies including pharmaceuticals, specimens, patient reports and charts; and the processing of external mail.

Essential Job Functions:
1. Use appropriate methods of transportation.
2. Assist with transportation of admitted patients to nursing units.
3. Use appropriate transfer mobility aids.
4. Follow proper procedures.
5. Sort and deliver incoming mail
6. Pick up, stamping and mailing of outgoing mail
7. Pickup and delivery of patient charts

Qualifications:

- Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Ability to function as a team member within the department and to interact positively with other hospital departmental personnel
- Ability to perform normal Porter functions, including transporting patients on stretchers and in wheelchairs
- Sensitivity to patient and staff requirements
- Ability to handle stress and adapt to position demands
- Satisfactory vulnerable person’s sector criminal background check.
- Internal candidates must have satisfactory attendance and performance appraisal in current position.
- Documented commitment to continuing education through inservice, staff meetings and self-motivated learning.
- Reliable and punctual
- Excellent communication and customer relation skills.
- Commitment to Patient Care & Safety and Service Excellence.

Salary Range: $28.00/hr - $28.67/hr
