We're Hiring IN-HOME Bilingual High School Science Tutors in South Ottawa!

TutorBright is hiring in-home Tutor-Mentors in South Ottawa, including the K1V area, to support high school students with senior-level Biology and Chemistry in both French and English.

We're looking for fully bilingual tutors who are fluent and confident communicating academically in both French and English. Candidates should have a strong background in high school science and be able to confidently teach Grade 11 and Grade 12 Biology and Chemistry in either language.

At TutorBright, our tutors are also mentors, which is why we call this position Tutor-Mentor. Tutor-Mentors help students strengthen their academic skills while also building confidence, independence, resilience, and a more positive relationship with learning.

Hours & Commitment

-Approximately 4-10 hours per week, depending on student matches and your availability
-Sessions primarily take place after school, in the evenings, and on weekends
-Sessions are typically 1-1.5 hours and regularly scheduled
-We are looking for Tutor-Mentors who can commit to working consistently with their students throughout the school year

What We're Looking For

-Fully fluent in both French and English
-Able to confidently explain senior high school science concepts in both French and English
-Strong knowledge of Grade 11 and Grade 12 Biology
-Robust knowledge of Grade 11 and Grade 12 Chemistry
-Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
-Currently enrolled in or graduated from college or university
-Able to commute to students' homes in South Ottawa,



including the K1V area
-Passionate about helping students grow academically and personally
-Reliable, organized, and committed to providing consistent support
-Comfortable adapting sessions to different learning styles and academic needs
-Able to break down complex scientific concepts in a clear and approachable way

We Are Especially Interested in Candidates Who Can Support:

-Grade 11 Biology in French and English
-Grade 12 Biology in French and English
-Grade 11 Chemistry in French and English
-Grade 12 Chemistry in French and English
-Lab concepts, scientific problem-solving, and test preparation
-Organization, study skills, and assignment planning

Nice to Have

-Previous tutoring, teaching, coaching, mentoring, or youth-focused experience
-Enrolment in or completion of a Biology, Chemistry, Health Science, Life Science, Education, or related university program
-Experience studying or teaching science in French
-Experience supporting students in French-language or French Immersion programs
-Experience supporting high school students
-Bachelor of Education students or certified teachers
-Experience supporting students with learning differences or special education needs
-Access to a reliable vehicle
