Position Description

Calgary Arts Academy strives to provide a safe, caring, clean environment for all stakeholders. As part of Calgary Arts Academy staff, you will demonstrate a positive attitude and develop team-oriented relationships with all stakeholders. Under the direct maintenance and operation instruction of your supervisor, you will ensure that your assigned cleaning responsibilities are completed in a timely, professional manner. Reliability, taking pride in the appearance of the school building and grounds is required. The successful applicant must be physically capable of handling all maintenance duties as assigned, provide a current police check and references upon request.

Responsibilities

1) Adhere to the outlined work schedule: 7am -1pm

2) Participate in the care and cleaning of school, grounds, lawns and shrubs. Removes snow and ice, and cleans sidewalks, driveways and school grounds as directed

3) Safely move heavy furniture, equipment and supplies

4) Facilitates public use rentals and after hour school activities as directed

5) Perform general security checks and secures the building as directed

6) Actively participate in all training requirements

7) Preform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Experiences

Level 1





- High school diploma

- 12 months of related mechanical or building operation experience

- 6 months of cleaning experience preferred

Level 2

- Possession of a valid Alberta Fifth Class Power Engineering Certificate of Competency

Demonstrated Skills

- Self-motivated

- Ability to lift between 11 and 25kg

- Physically able to complete all demands and responsibilities of this position

- Ability to work safely on ladders at heights of 2.5 to 3 meters regularly

- Ability to understand, speak and write English. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form

- Customer service oriented

- Working knowledge of basic computer applications such as email and web browsers

- Ability to work independently and as a team

- Reliable, dependable and trustworthy
