Harper's Plumbing
Alyth/Bonnybrook/Manchester
Journeyman Service Plumber | $47–$50/hr | No Sales Quotas
Full time | Calgary & Surrounding Communities
Great plumbers fix problems. They don't need sales quotas.
Somewhere along the way, parts of the plumbing industry started treating plumbers like salespeople.
That's not how we do things.
At Harper's Plumbing, we believe a great plumber knows their trade, takes pride in their work, and gives customers the same honest advice they'd give their own neighbour.
If something can be repaired properly, repair it. If it needs replacing, explain why. No commission, no sales quotas, and no pressure to turn every service call into a bigger invoice.
We'd rather earn a customer's trust than make an unnecessary sale.
A little about us
Harper's Plumbing is a locally owned and operated plumbing company serving Calgary and the surrounding communities since 2013.
We might work in a big city, but we've always believed in doing business with small-town values. Show up when you say you will. Treat people's homes with respect. Stand behind your work. And remember that the person answering the door is someone's neighbour, parent, or grandparent.
We're not a franchise. We're a growing team of plumbers who care about their craft, with owners who are involved in the business every day.
What makes Harper's different?
Home for dinner. That's the plan.
Our typical workday is 8 AM–5 PM. Sometimes a job runs longer than expected, and that's part of service plumbing. But we're not going to add another appointment to your evening just to fill the calendar.
Have a different schedule in mind? Let's talk.
Monday to Friday doesn't work for everyone. Prefer Tuesday to Saturday? We're open to discussing schedules that work for you and the business.
Our door is always open. And there's usually coffee.
Have an idea? Stop by, grab a coffee, and tell us about it.
Need a second opinion on a tricky job? Pick up the phone. We're involved, approachable, and always happy to talk plumbing.
We believe in mentoring the next generation.
Apprentices aren't just there to carry tools. They're there to learn, ask questions, and develop into great journeymen. We want experienced plumbers who take pride in passing along their knowledge.
You've got a team behind you.
Our office handles scheduling and customer communication, and our plumbers help one another when a job gets tricky. You're never expected to have every answer, but you should know when to ask for another opinion.
What we're offering
- $47–$50/hour, depending on experience

- $1,000 annual Health Care Spending Account, available from day one
- Overtime paid after 8 hours per day — no banking of hours

- Weekend on-call rotation: one weekend every two months
- Full-time, year-round employment
- Company service vehicle, equipment, and supplied PPE
- Varied residential service work

What your days will look like
We're primarily a residential service plumbing company, so no two days are quite the same.
You might start your morning tracking down a leak, spend the afternoon replacing a hot water tank, or help a homeowner solve a drainage problem that's been driving them crazy.
Our work includes:
- Residential plumbing service, repairs, and installations
- Drain cleaning and camera inspections
- Hot water tanks and tankless water heaters
- Leak detection, troubleshooting, and drainage issues
- Helping customers understand their repair and replacement options
- Mentoring apprentices and sharing your knowledge
Who we're looking for
We're looking for a journeyman plumber who approaches every service call the way they'd help a neighbour: with honesty, patience, and workmanship they'd be proud to put their name on.
You'll need:
- A valid Alberta Journeyman Plumber certification
- A valid driver's licence and acceptable driving record
- Strong residential service plumbing and troubleshooting experience
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of service calls
- Good communication skills and respect for customers and their homes
- A willingness to mentor apprentices and share your experience
Experience with drain cleaning, camera inspections, and tankless systems is an asset.
We're not expecting you to know everything. But we do expect you to care about getting things right, keep learning, and be the kind of teammate others can count on.
Sound like your kind of place?
We're not looking for the plumber who can sell the most.
We're looking for the plumber we'd trust to work in our own parents' home.
If you take pride in your trade, believe in treating people properly, and want to work somewhere that values your skills more than your sales numbers, we'd like to hear from you.
Send us your resume and tell us a little about yourself.
