Locane Counselling

Burlington

About

We have a growing private practice, which offers compassionate, individualized counselling to teens and adults. Our work focuses on eating disorders, disordered eating, body image, and the ways trauma, neurodivergence, and life experiences shape our relationship with food and our bodies.

Our approach is weight-inclusive, trauma-informed, and neurodiversity-affirming. We believe eating disorder care should be individualized, collaborative, and responsive to each person's needs, rather than centred on weight or appearance.

We are looking for a compassionate counsellor who enjoys working with youth and young adults and is interested in supporting individuals experiencing eating disorders, particularly restrictive eating disorders, ARFID, and eating difficulties related to ADHD and sensory differences.

This is an chance to join a growing practice, develop a specialized caseload, and contribute to the expansion of eating disorder services. We value clinicians who are curious, collaborative, and interested in continued learning. As the practice grows, there will be opportunities to expand clinical offerings, access additional resources and training support, and revisit compensation as the working relationship develops.

The successful candidate will provide individual counselling to clients experiencing eating disorders and disordered eating, with a particular interest in adolescents, youth, and young adults.

Areas of clinical interest include:

- Restrictive eating disorders and ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder).
- Limited interest in food, sensory sensitivities, and food-related anxiety.
- ADHD, executive functioning challenges, and difficulties with eating routines.
- Binge eating, body image concerns, and distress related to food and body changes.
- Anxiety, emotional regulation, trauma, and other factors contributing to eating difficulties.

Responsibilities

- Provide individualized, evidence-informed counselling within your scope of competence.
- Desire to learn and grow in the field
- Collaboratively develop treatment goals and support clients in building a more sustainable relationship with food and their bodies.

- Adapt therapeutic approaches to clients' developmental, sensory, emotional, and neurodivergent needs.
- Collaborate with caregivers and other healthcare professionals when appropriate and with appropriate consent.
- Maintain timely clinical documentation and adhere to professional and regulatory standards.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and clinical consultation as appropriate.

Qualifications

Required

- Registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
- Relevant counselling experience, training, or demonstrated competence in eating disorders or disordered eating.
- A trauma-informed, weight-inclusive, and neurodiversity-affirming approach to care.
- Strong clinical judgment, documentation skills, and the ability to work independently.

Strong assets

- Experience working with youth, adolescents, or young adults.
- Experience or specialized training in ARFID and restrictive eating disorders.
- Knowledge of ADHD, autism, sensory differences, or executive functioning challenges.
- Training in CBT-E, ACT, DBT, family-based approaches, or other evidence-informed eating disorder interventions.
- Experience collaborating with caregivers and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.
