Next-Gen Pastor

Forest City Church was born out of a desire to see health in the local church. To think of a forest is to think of a place of restoration, retreat, stillness; a place that brings oxygen to the atmosphere. Our diverse church community was planted in 2022 on the corner of Kingsway and Imperial in the heart of Burnaby.

As our church continues to grow, we are seeking someone to join our staff team and provide leadership and pastoral care for the next generation of our community. The Next Gen Pastor is a crucial leadership role in the Forest City Church community. This person will oversee the Next Gen Ministry, which consists of two key departments: Children’s Ministry & Youth Ministry.

Working both directly with children and youth, as well as bringing leadership and direction to the teams of volunteers that are committed to the growth and discipleship of the next generation.

Major Responsibilities:

Children’s Ministry (50% of hours)

- Manage the schedule of Sundays and special events for the kids' ministry.
- Manage the new volunteer intake process, including reference checks, criminal record checks, interviews, and orientation.
- Ensure all supplies are stocked, ordered and organized for each specific kids’ experience.
- Ensure the setup and tear-down of the Sunday experience.
- Oversee the development and implementation of the curriculum.
- Provide leadership and oversight for Sunday Kids Experience by facilitating and leading the experience
- Recruit, train, and pastor volunteers serving in the Sunday Kids experience
- Work together with the Lead Pastors and the rest of the staff and volunteers in implementing the mission, vision, values and strategic plan of the church.

Youth Ministry (50% of hours)

- Develop and implement a vision and strategic plan for Next-Gen Ministries
- Create innovative ways to engage with youth in Burnaby both on the FCC campus and beyond.




- Plan and lead a weekly youth experience that utilizes volunteers.
- Manage the new volunteer intake process, including reference checks, criminal record checks, interviews, and orientation.
- Mentor and pastor the volunteer teams to ensure that there is leadership development and spiritual development
- Participate in the leadership team as an advocate for Next-Gen ministry

Reporting:

The Next Gen will report to the Lead Pastors, with direct reporting details to be established upon beginning the role.

Schedule:

- Sunday to Thursday, with potential evenings
- 40 hours per week

Salary:

- $52,000 - $58,000 annually (depending on experience)

Qualifications:

- To have a passion for next-gen ministry and have previous experience.
- Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date.
- An undergraduate degree is preferred, specifically in pastoral, next gen ministry, or equivalent field (education etc) .
- A theological alignment with Forest City Church’s theological position.

- A mature follower of Jesus who demonstrates active discipleship through regular spiritual rhythms.
- Demonstrates being reliable and trustworthy (this includes following through on deadlines, communications and scheduling).
- Demonstrates ability to be adaptable, adaptable, open to feedback and work in a high-demand environment.
- Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
- A high level of organizational skills and strong communication ability.
- Solid leadership abilities to effectively carry out their responsibilities.
