Overview

Seeking a responsible and patient Personal Support Worker to work with a fifty year old man in his own home. This gentleman has been diagnosed with a developmental disability and has Prader Willi Syndrome. He receives 24 hour support from his support staff. He is passionate about cars and enjoys reading books/magazines about them and attending car shows. He also loves dogs and has his own golden retriever dog that he walks daily.

Support staff are responsible for:

- Preparing nutritious meals aligned with dietary requirements
- Perform light housekeeping tasks including cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe living environment
- Taking the individual into the community to participate in activities
- Building upon and learning new skills
- Ensuring medication is taken on schedule
- Assisting with activities of daily living (ie. Hygiene, some toileting)
- Providing support through challenging behaviours by providing guidance and redirection
- Keeping other staff and client’s sister apprised of important information in a timely manner




- Monitoring client’s health status and reporting any changes or concerns to healthcare professionals and/or client’s sister
- Providing support to appointments
- Respecting the individual’s right to make choices

The successful applicant will:

- Be available to work flexible schedule.
- Exercise flexibility and patience.
- Work well independently.
- Be a self-starter and offer opportunities to take part in new activities.
- Provide an updated criminal records check.
- Have the ability to work two to three shifts per week (shifts may be 8 hours, 16 hours or 24 hours).
- Be comfortable being in a home with a dog and supporting the client in taking care of his dog.
- Having a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is preferred.

Provide 2 references.

Pay: $17.95-$20.30 per hour

Expected hours: 24.0 – 60.0 per week
