Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician (Field)

Kidco Construction is a Calgary-based civil construction company with a fleet of over 500 pieces of off-road equipment. Our field mechanics repair equipment on active job sites across Calgary and the surrounding area. We are seeking a qualified, safety-focused Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) to join our team of field mechanics.

What You'll Do

- Travel to job sites to diagnose and repair heavy earthmoving equipment, including dozers, excavators, graders, loaders, packers, rock trucks, scrapers, and skid steers
- Respond to equipment breakdowns on site to reduce downtime
- Troubleshoot and repair engines, hydraulics, powertrains, electrical systems, and undercarriage
- Use diagnostic software such as CAT SIS, CAT ET, John Deere Service Advisor, and Komatsu diagnostic software to find faults and guide repairs
- Keep site foremen updated on equipment status and repair timelines
- Operate a company service truck and keep it stocked with tools, parts, and fluids
- Complete work orders and service records accurately
- Complete field hazard assessments and follow all company and site safety policies

What You Bring

- Certified Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) ticket
- 5+ years of experience repairing heavy construction equipment
- Hands-on experience with CAT, Komatsu, and John Deere equipment
- Experience with CAT SIS, CAT ET, and John Deere Service Advisor
- Valid Class 3 licence with air brake (Q) endorsement and a clean driver's abstract
- Legally allowed to work in Canada




- Your own reliable vehicle
- Solid troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Chaining and rigging experience preferred

Schedule (approximate):

- March to October: typically 10 hours Monday–Friday, 8 hours Saturday
- November to February: typically 8 hours Monday–Friday, 5 hours Saturday
- Additional overtime is required based on demand

What We Offer

- Wage: $45 to $60 per hour, based on experience
- Overtime pay: After 8 hours per day and 44 hours per week
- Vacation/holiday pay: 9.6% on every cheque

- Company service truck provided: A Ram 5500 or Kenworth T370 equipped with a crane, welder, and air compressor. Depending on whether you have adequate space at your residence to park the service truck, arrangements may be made to take the truck home and commute directly to job sites within your assigned region of the city. Otherwise, the truck will be parked at our shop at 4949 76th Avenue at the end of each workday.
