Job Overview
Rebarkable Retreat is Calgary’s destination for dog daycare, boarding, and community-driven pet experiences. We are seeking a part time Dog Daycare Attendant for early morning shifts beginning at 6:00 a.m., with a focus on supervising large breed dogs indoors and on structured outdoor pack walks.
This role is ideal for a dependable early riser who brings a strong physical work ethic, a calm and confident presence around dogs, and an appreciation for routine. Dog daycare work is rewarding, but it demands constant observation, quick decision-making, and a willingness to do hands-on, often messy work.
Key Responsibilities
- Support morning opening routines and prepare the daycare space for the day.
- Help boarding dogs settle into their morning routine and welcome daycare arrivals.
- Supervise and manage groups of up to 20 large breed dogs in an enclosed indoor daycare space.
- Lead on-leash pack walks with up to five dogs at a time, maintaining control and safety.
- Monitor dogs for subtle shifts in behaviour or tension, staying alert and attentive throughout your shift.
- Work independently for extended periods, including being the sole person supervising a group of dogs.
- Anticipate and intervene early to prevent altercations or overstimulation using safe, approved handling techniques.
- Clean up urine, feces, and other messes promptly, and perform ongoing cleaning and sanitation.
- Support enrichment programming and consistently uphold facility rules and protocols.
What This Job Is Really Like

- You may work alone with the dogs, which requires confidence, responsibility, and a calm demeanour.
- Keeping the dogs safe requires consistent attention, sound judgment, and early intervention.
- Cleaning is a major part of the role and must be completed thoroughly and consistently.
Qualifications
- Consistent availability for part-time early morning shifts starting at 6:00 a.m.
- Experience handling or working with large dogs is strongly preferred.
- Comfortable managing dog-to-dog interactions and handling dogs weighing 100 lbs or more.
- Able to remain on your feet throughout your shift, bend, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform physical tasks in all weather conditions.
- Strong situational awareness, good judgment, and a calm presence.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to follow instructions and routines with care.
- A positive attitude and respect for both animals and coworkers.
