About Us
Northcott is a wholesale textile company that designs and manufactures fabric for the quilting, sewing and craft industries. Our brands include Northcott, Banyan Batiks, FIGO Fabrics, Patrick Lose Fabrics and Anna Maria Textiles, along with licensed fabric collections. We’re looking for a skilled sewist to join our marketing team as a Sample Maker for Quilting & Apparel.

About the Role
In this role, you’ll turn our newest fabric collections into finished quilts, garments and projects. Your work will be seen at trade shows, in shop displays, and across our social media and digital marketing. You’ll work closely with our brand team to sew display samples and in-progress pieces for content. Some days you’ll be finishing a quilt for a show booth. Other days you’ll be sewing step-by-step pieces for a tutorial shoot. The role is based in our office, with the potential to do some sewing some projects from home.

You can follow a pattern accurately, you notice when something doesn’t add up, and you enjoy seeing a fabric collection come to life. You’re reliable with deadlines, comfortable switching between projects, and happy to work as part of a creative team.

What You’ll Do

- Sew quilts, garments, accessories and other finished samples for trade shows, conventions, booth displays and product launches
- Work from patterns, cutting instructions and design direction from our brand, sampling and content teams
- Finish samples to a display-ready standard, including pressing, labelling and preparing them for display or shipping




- Sew step-outs and in-progress pieces for photography, video and tutorials, and take part in content creation
- Meet deadlines so pieces are ready for scheduled shoots, posts and events
- Help with sales samples and event giveaways when needed
- Repair, refresh and organize display samples between shows
- Track project status, hours and materials used
- Keep the sewing area, tools and supplies organized

What You Bring

- Strong quilting and sewing skills, with a portfolio or photos of finished work
- Experience sewing quilts and at least one other project type, such as garments, bags or home décor
- Ability to read and follow patterns and cutting instructions accurately
- A high standard of finishing, with great attention to detail
- Good time management and the ability to work to deadlines
- Comfort taking direction

Nice to Have

- Experience sewing samples for a fabric company, pattern designer or quilt shop
- Comfort being on camera for in-progress content, such as hands-on or close-up shots
- Your own sewing machine and workspace for occasional work from home
- Familiarity with a range of quilting techniques, such as foundation paper piecing, appliqué or curved piecing
