HSE Coordinator – Hutton Safety Group

Location: Calgary, AB Type: Full-Time, In Office

WHO WE ARE

Hutton Safety Group acts as the fractional health & safety department for scaling, high‑risk companies across Western Canada. We build safety systems that make companies measurably safer and more profitable, without the bloat of in‑house departments.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We’re hiring an HSE Coordinator to lead the day-to-day delivery of safety services across assigned client groups, while coaching HSE Administrators and ensuring client commitments are met.

In the first 12 months, you will:

- Independently manage assigned client groups, ensuring onboarding, compliance reviews, reporting, and recurring deliverables are accurate and completed on time.
- Develop HSE Administrators through coaching, quality reviews, and competency assessments, improving their ability to work independently.
- Keep COR/SECOR milestones, incident corrective actions, and compliance requirements moving forward, identifying and escalating risks before deadlines are missed.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

You will be responsible for:

- Overseeing daily client operations, managing priorities, resolving issues, and ensuring HSE Administrators have the guidance and support they need.
- Conducting quality reviews, onboarding audits, and compliance checks while coaching Administrators and maintaining consistent standards.
- Preparing COR/SECOR compliance reports, managing HSE statistics, and monitoring platforms including Workhub, ISNetworld, ComplyWorks, and Avetta.
- Coordinating COR/SECOR audits, corrective-action follow-up, safety meetings, HSC activities, and emergency response drills.
- Acting as a day-to-day client contact, maintaining accurate documentation in Asana, and proactively communicating deadlines, risks, and outstanding actions.

You'll report to the Director of Operations and work closely with HSE Advisors,

Administrators, and the Operations team.

WHAT IT’S LIKE TO WORK HERE

We are not a fit for most people. That’s on purpose.

We work with scaling, high‑risk companies where mistakes actually hurt people. That means our bar for ourselves is high. If you want a comfy, low‑accountability role, you will hate it here.

Better Every Day
We get a little sharper every week, or we get gone.

- You run your own learning: you seek out feedback, run post‑mortems on your misses, and change fast.
- You’re not the same operator 12 months from now.

Brilliant At the Basics
We treat the “boring” work as the main event.

- You hit deadlines, communicate early if something will slip, and keep your notes, reports, and safety records clean without chasing.

Own It
If it’s yours, you carry it across the line.

- You take responsibility for outcomes, not just tasks. When something breaks, you say “that’s on me,” fix it, and address the root cause.

Win As One
We protect the mission over our ego or department.

- You share knowledge freely, help teammates under pressure, and present a united front to clients.

If you read this and feel energized, you’ll probably love it here.
If you feel defensive or tired just reading it, that’s a good sign to pass.

THIS ROLE MIGHT BE FOR YOU IF…

- You've worked in HSE coordination or compliance and enjoy managing multiple clients, competing priorities, and detailed operational requirements.
- You're comfortable guiding others,

reviewing their work, and holding people accountable while helping them develop.
- You take initiative, communicate confidently with clients, and recognize problems before they become missed deadlines or compliance risks.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

- Minimum 3 years of experience in HSE coordination, compliance, or a related safety administration role.
- Working knowledge of COR/SECOR, HSE management systems, compliance reporting, and audit preparation.
- Experience managing multiple projects or client requirements and supporting team members.
- Solid Microsoft Office skills, organization, attention to detail, and professional communication.
- Experience with Workhub, Asana, ISNetworld, ComplyWorks, or Avetta is an asset.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada and able to work full-time from our Calgary office.

COMPENSATION & LOGISTICS

- Salary: $60,000 to $75,000
- Permanent full-time position, Monday to Friday, in office in Calgary.
- Extended health and dental care, disability and life insurance, and paid time off.
- Casual dress, company events, and on-site parking.
