Looking for cashiers/customer service workers for our retail store of Midway Garden Centre that opens in May. Training would start in April.
Multiple positions are available.
- Be able to stand for long periods of time
- Work in a fast pace workplace
- Be comfortable with task re-assignment
- Be able to organize and prioritize under time constraints
- Be able to work well with others and also complete tasks independently
- Be reliable
- Be physically fit, able to lift 30 pounds and more
- Have own transportation to and from greenhouse
- Provide a positive customer experience with friendly and courteous service
- In the retail area assist customers as needed (finding products, checking out, loading vehicles and assisting with customer issues and questions)
- Build a quick, lasting relationship with customers to ensure they enjoyed their visit
- Operating a cash register and collecting payment methods of cash, debit and credit cards
- Maintain a clean/tidy safe environment
- Follow directions given by all Supervisors/Lead Hands
But not limited to also :
- Cleaning and transplanting plants
- Prepare and pack the products for shipping
- Move/space/sort product as required
- Assist in all areas of production as needed
Working Conditions :
- High physical effort is required (bending, twisting, lifting, walking)
- Work is normally performed in the greenhouse and retail areas
- Fieldwork when needed
- Temperatures can be cool/hot and humid
- Full weeks with long hours during harvest periods
- Weekends and holidays availability is needed for our short and busy season
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to handle transactions accurately and responsibly
- Effective communication skills
- Customer service skills
- Basic math skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to adjust schedule, tasks and prioritize when necessary to meet business needs
