Lead or assist expedition kayak tours with Kingfisher Wilderness Adventures, combining guest engagement, kayaking instruction, and natural history interpretation. Seasonal availability is required.
This Assistant Overnight Guide position supports 2027 tours across Northern Vancouver Island, Haida Gwaii, and the Great Bear Rainforest. You will follow lead-guide direction on base camp trips while helping deliver protected wilderness experiences. Responsibilities include camp meals, shore activities, equipment care, and guide training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support lead guides during base camp and expedition tours
- Run guest orientation meetings before departures
- Teach kayaking skills and maintain guest safety
- Lead camp meals and on-shore activities
- Prepare, clean, and store gear after trips
Requirements:
- Advanced Wilderness First Aid, 40-hour minimum
- ROC-M and Class 5 driver’s licence minimum
- Outgoing style engaging diverse guests
- Excellent organization and teamwork abilities
- Availability from late May through early October
Use expedition guiding, safety, communication, and camp-operation strengths while developing skills alongside experienced Level 2 and Level 3 guides.
